Is Amazon Prime Worth It in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Egypt?

Amazon Prime pays for itself if you place about two small orders a month that would otherwise carry a delivery fee. On 11 October 2026 the annual plan cost SAR 140 on Amazon.sa, AED 140 on Amazon.ae and EGP 249 on Amazon.eg. If most of your orders already clear the free-delivery threshold, the delivery saving alone will not cover the fee, and the answer depends on whether you use Prime Video, Prime-only deals and, in the UAE, the extra partner benefits.

Prices come from the Prime pages on Amazon.sa, Amazon.ae and Amazon.eg, checked 11 October 2026. The non-Prime delivery rules come from Amazon's delivery help pages: Amazon.sa (checked 11 October 2026), Amazon.ae and Amazon.eg (both checked 7 August 2026). The free threshold covers items fulfilled by Amazon. Items a marketplace seller ships itself do not count towards it.

The break-even sums

The cleanest way to judge Prime is to count the delivery fees it would remove. Take the annual price and divide it by the fee you pay on an order under the free threshold:

  • Saudi Arabia: SAR 140 divided by SAR 12 is about 12 small orders a year, one a month.
  • UAE: AED 140 divided by AED 10 is 14 small orders a year.
  • Egypt: EGP 249 divided by EGP 20 is about 13 small orders a year.

On the monthly plan the sums are tighter: SAR 16 or AED 16 covers two small orders in a month, and EGP 29 covers one and a half. If you shop in bursts, paying monthly in the months you are busy and cancelling in between can cost less than the annual plan. Over a full year, the monthly plan costs SAR 192 or AED 192, which is SAR 52 or AED 52 more than paying annually.

Orders above the threshold do not count in this sum, because they ship free anyway. If you usually batch your shopping into one larger order, Prime's delivery value to you is close to zero.

What Prime adds beyond delivery

All three Prime pages list Prime Video, Prime-only deals and access to Prime Day. The Saudi and Egyptian pages also list free PC games through Amazon Luna. The Saudi and UAE pages list free international delivery from the US, UK and Germany, which matters if you buy imported items through the Global Store.

The UAE plan carries the most extras on its Prime page:

  • Free Amazon Now delivery in 15 minutes for Prime members.
  • A Deliveroo Plus membership, listed as worth AED 228 a year.
  • 10% off Amazon Home Services.

If you would pay for Deliveroo Plus anyway, that line alone is worth more than the AED 140 Prime fee as Amazon prices it. That is the one case where Prime is clearly worth it in the UAE without counting a single delivery.

Prime-only codes are the benefit most people miss. In September 2026 Amazon.sa ran a 25% code for Prime members, capped at SAR 150 with a SAR 100 minimum, and during Back to School in August Riyad Bank's Prime code went up to 25%, capped at SR150, while non-Prime cardholders were capped at SR100. These come and go. The live list is on the Amazon Saudi Arabia and Amazon UAE pages.

Prime does not travel between countries

Amazon.sa, Amazon.ae and Amazon.eg are separate marketplaces with separate Prime subscriptions. A membership bought in Dubai gives you nothing at the Saudi checkout. Amazon's own Prime pages suggest that residents move their subscription to the local site. If you have moved country, cancel the old plan and start a new one, since you will be paying twice otherwise.

Is there a free trial?

On 11 October 2026 the Saudi and UAE pages showed a discounted start (three months at SAR 8 or AED 8 a month) and no free month. The Egyptian page showed only the standard plans. Offers change, and some accounts see different ones, so read the plan screen before you join. Prime renews automatically at the full price once the offer ends.

Cancelling and refunds

You can cancel from Your Account at any time. Amazon's Prime pages say that paid members who have not used their benefits can get up to a full refund of the current period. If you joined for one sale event, set a reminder to cancel before renewal. Leaving early does not take away the time you already paid for.

Who should join and who should skip it

  • Join if you place at least one order a month under SAR 100, AED 100 or EGP 200 from Amazon-fulfilled stock, or if you already pay for Deliveroo Plus in the UAE.
  • Join for one month around Prime Day in July or White Friday in the last week of November if Prime-only prices are what you are after, then cancel.
  • Skip it if you shop on Amazon a few times a year or build one large basket each time.

Whatever you decide, the shelf price still needs checking. Run the item through the product check to see if today's price is a good one, and keep an eye on the deal calendar for the sale dates. If you shop Noon as well, compare the two on the Noon Saudi Arabia page, since Noon runs its own membership and its own delivery rules.

To sign up or check the plan screen, open Amazon.sa. Savooh may earn a commission if you buy through this link; your price is the same.
