Privacy policy

When you're just browsing

You can read every page on Savooh without signing in, and we don't know who you are. When you click through to a store, we record that the click happened so we can tell which codes people actually use:

• which coupon and store you clicked, and when
• your browser's user-agent string and the page that referred you
• a random session identifier that lets us tell one visit apart from another, not tied to a name, an email, or an account
• a one-way hash of your IP address; the raw IP is never stored, and a hash can't be reversed back into an address

If you create an account

Accounts are optional and exist for one reason: deal alerts. If you sign up we store your email address, plus a display name, age range and avatar if you choose to add them. There is no password to steal, sign-in is a one-time code sent to your email. Turn on push alerts and we also keep the subscription your browser hands us, which you can revoke from browser settings whenever you like.

Cookies

One cookie is functional: it's set only after you sign in, so the site remembers it's you on the next page. Two more come from analytics, Microsoft Clarity and Google Analytics, and those are set for every visitor, signed in or not. Clarity records anonymised session behaviour, things like scrolling and where the cursor moves, so we can see where people get stuck; Google Analytics reports aggregated traffic and pageview counts. Neither tool receives your name, email, or anything tied to a Savooh account. Block them from your browser's cookie or tracking-protection settings and the site still works exactly the same.

The browser extension

The extension reads the address of your current tab and compares it against Savooh's list of supported stores. On a supported store it can show you available codes and, when you ask it to (or automatically at checkout), find the discount field, read it back just to confirm the code stuck, and type one in. It never reads any other field on the page — your name, address, card details, or anything else you type. On every other site it does nothing at all: no page content, no form fields. The store list plus a note of which tabs it has already prompted you on are cached in your browser, not on our servers, and none of this is sent to us. Removing the extension stops all of it and clears that cache.

What we never collect

Payment card details, bank information, passwords, the contents of forms you fill in on other sites, and your browsing anywhere outside a supported store. We don't buy data about you from anyone, and we don't sell, rent or trade what little we hold.

Who else sees it

The companies that host Savooh, our database, cache and CDN providers, and only because the service runs on their machines. Microsoft and Google receive the analytics events described above under their own privacy policies, not ours. Affiliate networks see that a click arrived from Savooh, which is how commission gets attributed; they don't receive an identity from us. Click a coupon and you land on the retailer's site, where their privacy policy takes over, not ours.

Getting your data, or deleting it

Email us and ask. We'll tell you what's stored against your address and delete it if you want it gone, no form, no account portal, no waiting for a ticket. Deleting an account removes the email, the alert subscriptions and the push registration. Aggregate counts (how many people used a code) stay, because at that point nothing in them points back to you. Write to privacy@savooh.com and say what you need.

Children

Savooh isn't built for children under 13 and we don't knowingly hold their data. If you think a child has signed up, email us and we'll remove the account.

Changes to this policy

If what we collect changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves. We won't start collecting something new and leave this text describing the old behaviour.
