Is AliExpress Safe to Buy From in Saudi Arabia and the UAE?

AliExpress is a marketplace, so your protection comes from Buyer Protection and from choosing the seller well. What the protection covers, how to claim, and where it stops.

Is AliExpress safe to buy from?

AliExpress is a large, established marketplace, launched by Alibaba in 2010, and it backs orders with a Buyer Protection programme. The protection refunds you if an item does not arrive within the guaranteed delivery window, or if it arrives damaged or does not match its description and you claim within 15 days of receiving it. The risk sits with the individual seller, so how safe a given order is depends on which store you buy from and how quickly you act if something goes wrong.

This guide covers what the protection includes and excludes, how to claim, how to judge a seller before you pay, and the costs a Gulf shopper should count. We read AliExpress's Buyer Protection page on 11 October 2026.

Who you are buying from

On AliExpress the retailer on your order is the seller who posted the listing, often a Chinese manufacturer or trader. AliExpress sits behind that seller as the referee. That structure is why prices undercut regional stores: there is usually no local warehouse and no importer in the middle. It is also why the seller's record matters more here than at a store like noon or Amazon, where one company stands behind every listing.

What Buyer Protection covers

ProblemCovered?Time limit

Item did not arrive or was lost in transitYesWithin the guaranteed delivery window shown on the order page
You changed your mindA return is possible, but you pay the return shippingListings with free returns: 15 days from receipt

The page also says some items fall outside the return policy: items prohibited on AliExpress, underwear, socks, food, batteries and customised items. The protection is in addition to any consumer rights you have under the law of your country.

How to claim a refund

  1. Contact the seller. Open the order, tap Contact Seller and describe the problem. Many issues end here.
  2. File a return or refund request. Go to My Orders, then Order Detail, then Return/Refund. Select the items, give the reason and upload photos or other evidence.
  3. Get refunded. If the order qualifies, you choose between the original payment method and AliExpress's fast refund bonus, where certain conditions apply. You receive a confirmation when the refund is done.

The 15 days run from the day you receive the item. Open the parcel and check the item as soon as it arrives, and file the request the same day if something is wrong. Waiting on a seller's promises past the window can leave you without cover.

How to judge a seller before you pay

  • Read the reviews from the last month. A store can change factory or owner. Recent reviews describe the item you would receive now; the lifetime average describes an older one.
  • Look at photos posted by buyers. They show the real colour, size and finish better than the listing images.
  • Check the store's rating and order count. A long record with steady recent feedback is a better sign than a new store with a low price.
  • Check the return label on the listing. Free returns turn a wrong size into a small delay. Without it, sending a cheap item back to China can cost more than the item.
  • Keep everything inside AliExpress. Pay at AliExpress checkout and keep your messages with the seller in the order chat, so the evidence for a claim is in one place.

Delivery to the Gulf

Each listing shows its own delivery estimate, and one cart can contain items with different arrival dates. Standard cross-border listings are usually counted in weeks. Choice listings and items in local warehouses arrive sooner and often cost more. Read the estimate on the item page, because the guaranteed delivery window on your order page is what the non-arrival protection is measured against.

The costs on top of the price

Saudi Arabia charges 15% VAT on goods imported through e-commerce, and duty can apply by product category above the customs threshold. Some listings show tax in the checkout total; others leave it to be collected on arrival. Read the order summary before you compare a price with a local store.

Warranty is the other cost. An electronics item from AliExpress usually has no local warranty route. For a phone, a laptop or an appliance you would claim on, the higher price at noon or Amazon buys local returns and a local warranty. For a phone case or a cable, that matters less. Product Check tells you what we know about a product link before you pay.

Saving on AliExpress

The autumn AliExpress codes for the Gulf have ended, and the next big platform event is 11.11 in the second week of November. Codes we confirm are listed on the Savooh AliExpress pages for Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait and Egypt, and sale dates go on the deal calendar. To shop, use AliExpress Saudi Arabia or AliExpress UAE. Savooh may earn a commission if you buy through this link; your price is the same.

If you are buying in bulk for a business, AliExpress is the wrong tool. Its sister site Alibaba.com is the wholesale platform, with its own order protection.

Questions shoppers ask

Is AliExpress legit in Saudi Arabia?

Yes. It is Alibaba's retail marketplace, launched in 2010, and orders are covered by Buyer Protection. The quality of what arrives depends on the seller you choose.

How long do I have to open an AliExpress dispute?

15 days from receiving the item for damage, shortages or items not as described. For non-delivery, the guaranteed delivery window on the order page applies.

Who pays return shipping on AliExpress?

For a change of mind, you do, unless the listing offers free returns. For a damaged or wrong item, claim through Buyer Protection.

Can I return batteries or underwear bought on AliExpress?

No. AliExpress lists underwear, socks, food, batteries and customised items as outside its return policy.

Where does an AliExpress refund go?

To your original payment method or to AliExpress's fast refund bonus, which you choose when the refund is issued.
