Which Canon printer should you buy?
Start from how much you print and what you print, then pick the ink system, and only then compare prices. Canon's own buying tips for the store say to compare printing technology, functions, ink system and expected usage. In practice, that means writing down roughly how many pages you print a month and whether they are colour or black before you look at a single product page.
Step 2: check the functions you need
Many home printers also scan and copy. If you need to scan documents for work or school, confirm that the model scans, and check whether it connects over Wi-Fi to your phone or only by cable. For an office, look at whether it prints on both sides automatically and how many sheets the paper tray holds. These details sit in the product specifications on Canon's store. If a feature is not listed there, do not assume the printer has it.
Step 3: price the ink before the printer
Before you order, open the ink or toner that your chosen model uses on the same store and note its price and how many pages Canon says it yields, if the product page states it. Two practical points follow. First, set the printer up and test it within the 14 days, while the free return still applies. Second, do not open spare cartridges you bought separately until the printer is working and you are keeping it, because once opened they cannot come back unless faulty.

Step 5: plan the delivery

Official store or another retailer?
