The British Council (المجلس الثقافي البريطاني) is the UK's organisation for cultural relations and a co-owner of the IELTS test. In Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Kuwait it runs IELTS and other UK exams, English courses for adults, kids and teens in its own teaching centres, and online courses such as IELTS Coach.

Book IELTS straight from the British Council
Each country site lists the official fee, for example AED 1,590 in the UAE and SAR 1,636 in Saudi Arabia on 21 October 2026, and the fee includes free IELTS Ready Premium preparation.

Retake one skill instead of the whole test
One Skill Retake lets you resit only Listening, Reading, Writing or Speaking, for example SAR 1,099 instead of SAR 1,636 for a full test.

Cancel at least 15 days before the test
Cancelling 15 or more days ahead refunds 75% of a standard IELTS fee. Within 14 days there is no refund unless you qualify for special consideration.

About British Council : the full picture

The British Council co-owns IELTS, so its test centres and teachers work with the test directly. In the four countries covered here it offers IELTS on computer and on paper, IELTS for UK Visas and Immigration, IELTS Life Skills, One Skill Retake, Cambridge English and Aptis exams, plus school and professional exams in some countries.

Fees are set per country. On 21 October 2026 a standard IELTS test cost EGP 10,200 in Egypt, SAR 1,636 in Saudi Arabia, AED 1,590 in the UAE and KWD 106 in Kuwait. IELTS for UKVI cost EGP 11,500, SAR 1,744, AED 1,680 and KWD 106. The test fee includes free access to IELTS Ready Premium preparation material.

English courses run in teaching centres in Cairo, Giza and Alexandria, Riyadh, Jeddah and Khobar, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah, and Mansouriya in Kuwait, with online options such as IELTS Coach and a flexible online English course. Course prices on the country sites ranged from AED 102 an hour in the UAE to SAR 2,898 for a 4-week, 24-hour course in Saudi Arabia.
